Some characters are back from my first book, or more accurately, reappear in the 2nd book. Remember, I believe in interdimensional travel, as well as, reincarnation after death. Two distinct categories of existence. In an atmosphere of crypto authoritarianism, these characters need to be invisible to government surveillance. The ability to transit along a path between worlds allows them evade the government tracking system designed to monitor human souls. A new character in book 2 describes this phenomenon as the veiled souls.
